Epsom salts are a daily part of life even if you don’t soak your feet. These salts – otherwise known as Magnesium Sulphate – are commonly used as a coagulant for tofu and as brewing salt in beer. But we’re not here to talk about swallowing the stuff…this is all about taking the weight off those tired feet as we run about in our chosen profession. A nice soak in a bowl of water can reduce inflammation and muscle soreness. So here’s a recipe for pain free feet…
1. Place a heaped handful of Epsom salts into a bowl which is big enough to put your foot or feet in.
2. Fill with hot water as hot as you can stand it, to a level above the ankle.
3. Place your foot or feet in and let soak until the water becomes warm (not cool). Take your feet out at this point and rinse with clean water.
4. Rub moisturising cream into your feet, as the salts can dry out your skin.
5. Do not be surprised if the water changes colour, due to toxin release.
