Eat Your Greens – Alternatives to Red Meat

 

Last month we went over some good healthy Bowen reasons to eat iron rich foods. Red meat was number one on the list, but there’s a whole lot of people out there who don’t put beef high on their favourite food list. Fortunately nature has blessed us with some greener alternatives…after all, cows have to get their iron from somewhere, so we can too. Just like Popeye used to say, spinach was what made him the sailor man. Raw, steamed, served in butter or stirred up in a stirfry, spinach is one of those leafy greens that will go a long way in delivering some of your daily iron needs. Don’t like spinach? Well, pumpkin seeds, white beans and lentils actually have a higher iron content than a bowl of spinach. But what about something more popular? Broccoli and Bok Choy are good greens to start with. They do have a lower iron content than spinach, but they make up for this by having higher concentrations of Vitamin C – and if you read last month’s newsletter you’ll know that Vitamin C increases iron uptake into your body…which for Bowen Therapy to work, is the all important outcome of you eating iron. So if you don’t like red meat, don’t give up on iron. If it’s green and leafy that’s going to be much better for you and your muscles than something pre-packed in preservatives.

It is gentle, fast and an effective way to treat health concerns from sporting injuries to pain, stress and discomfort. Bowen Therapy stimulates the patient’s musculoskeletal system into realigning itself.

The beauty of Bowen Therapy is that it will not interfere and works well with all medication and/or dietary supplements and is gentle but powerful. A treatment takes about one hour.
