Just imagine you are holding a glass of water with your arm straight out at shoulder level.

Holding that cup for a minute may be easy, but if you continue to hold that glass up over a period of time the strain in those muscles would make a relatively small object very hard to keep at that level. It is the same with the stress response, clients have often commented that it was a seemingly insignificant event that precipitated their injury, ‘the straw that broke the camels back’. However, when looking back that body had been supporting a high level of stress response that predisposed their body to injury.
