The Bowen Therapeutic Technique is named after its founder Tom Bowen who operated a clinic in Geelong (Victoria, Australia) from the 1950's onwards. He taught his technique to a few students, including Oswald Rentsch who set up the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia which teaches students throughout Australia and the world. There is ongoing research to ascertain why and how the Bowen Therapeutic Technique works.
