BEN SETTER – the young fellow I first met at a Bowen Therapy Course in Cairns 1994 – I was doing my initial course and Ben was continuing to expand his knowledge. It was obvious then that the candle had been lit for Ben’s love and belief in Bowen Therapy. He still, today, has that same enthusiasm. Everybody at the course wanted to be in Ben’s group and I happened to be one of the lucky ones.
We continued to get together at many more BT courses and his help and guidance were readily forthcoming, and much appreciated.
The years rolled by and, even though I had kept myself active, found I had a pain I couldn’t shift. Due to personal reasons, I had given up working with Bowen Therapy. My experiences as a therapist over the time were quite extra-ordinary. The results achieved and the easing of pain, were almost unbelievable.
My thoughts, amidst all the pain, went to my friend, Ben. I prayed that he was still working with Bowen Therapy. To my great relief, I found him in Townsville – Jan 2020. He didn’t hesitate to treat me and he made that wonderful contact and the old friendship rekindled.
It has not been an easy road back to come sort of normality for me, Ben encouraged me all the way. I spent many hours driving to and from Townsville, stopping every 30 minutes to get out of the car and walk for a short time. My gratitude is very profound to Ben and I can now play tennis, exercise, play bowls, etc and do all these things without pain.

I have been to see Benjamin and June for the past 2 1/2 years. My current occupation involves a large amount of stress. I find that the stress causes my shoulders to tighten up to the extent that they are very stiff and sore. To complicate matters, I play a lot of tennis which puts a great deal of strain on my body. I have pulled muscles and have even dislocated my knee and shoulder. After a Bowen, I find that I am more relaxed and ready to face another day. I also find that my body heals faster. I am very impressed with the Bowen Technique and would recommend it to anyone with either injuries or stress problems.

Life Saver With Bowen Therapy At Setter’s
Since I limped into your office with horrific lower back bulging disc pain (nearly 4 years ago I think) from moving furniture for my mum, you have continued to fix me up when I used muscles I didn’t know I had when picking mangoes with a really long pole, when I hurt my neck when fixing doors, when I moved my daughter’s bed when there was a spider under it and tore the supraspinatus muscle in my left shoulder, and … and … and … the list is sooooo long. You and your wonderful wife Cindy have helped my body heal from the stresses life has thrown at me as well as help my body after sitting in a chair for the hours I’m at work (I have a permanent reminder to get up and walk and have a drink). As you say, something along these lines, if we were meant to sit down all day God would have made us with a chair stuck to our bums! (I hope I got this right lol!) Thank you for your healing skills – I really don’t know what I would do if you didn’t do what you do – please don’t ever stop!

September 1993 I was diagnosed with Progressive MS (Multiple Sclerosis)
Advised by Doctor of possible future associated failures with different parts of my body. One of these being loss of mobility due to leg failure.
July 1997 I was put off work as Disabled.
Apart from several other health issues, my legs did not function very well and included great pain.
I first went to Setters Health Centre to see if Bowen Therapy might help me.
I was in a wheel chair at this stage but with the aid of crutches and support from my wife I was able to shuffle into the surgery.
After about an hour of treatment I was able to walk correctly and walk out of the surgery unassisted.
I had weekly treatments for about 2 years and found that I could walk OK with the aid of crutches.
19 years later I am still able to walk with the aid of crutches mainly because of very bad balance. A problem that cannot be cured.
MY DOCTOR CAN NOT UNDERSTAND HOW I CAN STILL WALK.
I AM CONVINCED THAT IT WAS THE BOWEN THERAPY THAT SAVED ME FROM LIFE IN A WHEEL CHAIR.
My wife suffers with migraine headaches but taking her in the car with the air conditioner on full blast and blowing on her all the way to the surgery and after a Bowen treatment the pain had gone. It was good that she did not have to take any medication and suffer from the after effects of the medication.

I had taken my wife in for a treatment for her Migraine. I had a bruise on my leg about 70mm wide and almost black.
After just 5 minutes of treatment I was amazed to see this bruise disappear.

I have been suffering from a frozen shoulder, very painful and very little movement in my arm. Doctors suggested an operation or Cortisone injection. I have lived with Chronic pain now for over 6 years due to a work place accident where I broke my neck in 2 places and injured my lower back. I have tried lots of different things to ease the pain like increasing my medication,physio every week, acupuncture and chiro which I got slight relief. My partner suggested for me to try Bowen Therapy which I finally succumb to as I am the biggest sceptic. OUTSTANDING REVIEW FOR Setters Health Centre. Hi Benjamin. I just wanted to let you and your fans know that I treated one of your patients yesterday who has moved from Townsville to Brissy. He came to see me for a neck injury. He shared with me how some 14-15 years ago, your Mum, June, came out of retirement at 7am one morning to treat him for his severe neck pain. He shared with me how all she did was treat his neck and after 3 attempts at whatever she was doing (his words not mine) his neck vertebrae seemed to pop back into place. He told me that he has not had any problem with his neck ever since. This alone is truly outstanding. He then went on to tell me how after his treatment with your Mum, you advised him to remove his wallet from his back pocket and that this was the source of his initial problem. He told me that this one piece of advice from you was what altered his life and he believes combined with your Mum’s treatment saved him from pain for all of these years. When I treated him, his body was out of alignment. He had a superior (R) Pv (Pelvis) and PSIS, his (L) sacrum was locked and he had (L) LLD (leg length discrepancy) of 15mm. I was able to realign his body fully and obviously I also worked on his neck giving him better range of movement (ROM). He told me that he felt a great deal better immediately and he has booked in again next week so that I may work on his TMJ using the new techniques I have learnt through Ron Phelan.

Exiting the vehicle through the sunroof I sustained a bruised brain, broken collar bone, ruptured spleen, torn duodenum, and my left leg was broken in two places. I would like to thank – Benjamin Setter – for his wonderful “Healing Hands”.
In 2000 – I sustained a Right Knee injury at work – during that year I had 2 surgeries – with fairly good results.
In 2010 – I had to have further surgery – left with some pain and discomfort.

I had my first Bowen Therapy experience with Benjamin Setter over 12 years ago.
I have always been very active, playing sport including squash, running and doing Yoga. About this time I was experiencing some joint discomfort and a sore back and went to a chiropractor. After regular sessions for about 12 months I was getting worse and had difficulty walking up and down stairs. Then someone suggested I try Bowen Therapy.
When Benjamin explained the process I was very sceptical about how something so seemingly simple could work – but it did!
It took about 4 sessions to get my body back to something like my old self and allow me to resume my normal life without discomfort. Since then I have recommended Setters and Bowen therapy to many friends, family and work colleagues suffering everything from sore necks and backs, headaches and sore knees and have had many return visits myself. 10 years later one of my friends is still having a regular Bowen treatment to allow her to cope with a long standing chronic back condition.
I still don’t understand how Benjamin works his magic, but after having done Yoga for over 30 years I strongly believe in body balance and the natural ability of the body to heal itself. Ben’s “golden rules” and warm up exercises have become part of my daily life.

Bowen Therapy has improved my life. There are times when I am barely able to walk in and when I am having Bowen Therapy I can feel the muscles relax with relief. I met June Setter by accident – my accident when one Friday my head had an argument with a garage door. Saturday saw me poring over the Yellow Pages and finally settled on Setter’s Bowen Therapy.
